Any photographer will ask another photographer, “How do I market myself?” “How do I get more bookings?” or “How to make a good impression on clients?”. There are plenty of great answers to these questions and this week you will not find all the answers to these questions BUT this week you will learn about a free tool that can make you look awesome at weddings and become an extremely successful marketing tool to generate leads for your business.
Reception Slideshows
During my two presentations on the 2010 SHOWIT Freedom Tour, I asked the question: “How many of you currently do reception slideshows?”. It was less than 10% in San Fran & OC. I felt a strong vibe from photographers that they believe it would take way too long to create or that it wouldn’t look good. This week I want to debunk those feelings you may have and show you how quick & easy it is to create a successful reception slideshow using Bridge & Actionrunner. Once you create a slideshow at a reception, you’ll love it so much that you will do it at all your weddings this season!! Check out the video below!

Ask away Wednesday :: Reception Slideshows

@delbar- You’ll be fine.. Dinner takes about 40 min (average) and if you shoot on small jpeg you are looking at about 2 min to import jpegs, 4 min to select best images and 6 min to edit them quickly in bridge. Process to jpeg takes like 1 min.. Within 16 min, you should be all done and have time to eat your meal.

Jamilah!! That is amazing!! I’m so excited that it worked out well for you and that you found success. Keep us updated on your future slideshows… It’ll only get even better!
Yes on the screensaver… thats easy to forget.

I’m so happy to share my first slideshow experience, thanks to your tips… I was nervous about switching back & forth b/t jpeg + raw images (& possibly forgetting something along the way), so I just shot in raw as usual… b/t the ceremony & venue I had time to upload the images onto the mac… then once dinner started, I quickly picked & chose images to put in the slideshow… frantic and feeling rushed I only got to use 35 images (which was enough to make an impression on the crowd)… in reality, I had plenty of time and will definitely use more next time… I was so proud & happy when people started coming up and viewing the slideshow in awe and excitement… the bride came up to me and said she overheard someone say “we need them to shoot our wedding” =) yay! You’re right, I will definitely be doing slideshows from now on!
Thank you for help =)
~jamilah~
ps: for others, make sure to set your screen saver so it doesn’t turn on — because that’s one thing we forgot to do…

Awesome Deborah!! Glad it has been working for you!
Preview is way better than screensaver.

This is great! I just started doing slide shows this season and the response has been great! I’ve been doing it through the screen saver, but I love this tip on using Preview instead! Thanks so much for sharing.

Awesome post! Thanks so much for your input on this… I’ve been curious as to how photographers did this at receptions… Well, you’ve inspired me to make a slideshow this weekend for a wedding I’m shooting! I’ll be back to let you know how it went =)
Thanks again!
